Setting Auto Router Parameters
View Video
Invoke
PCB Layout
in the
Project Explorer.
Select
Autorouters(Arizona/Standard Autorouter)
from
Menu Auto.
An
autorouter window
may pop up .Click on
Yes
to continue.Orthogonal traces, if any, in the layout should be removed before importing it.
From
File menu
,select option
Load Board
to Route from Project to import the layout project into the autorouter.
Select option
Routing Parameter Settings
from function tool
Parameters setup

This option pops up
Routing Parameter Setup
to set routing directions for the selected layer, set clearances between pads, vias and traces, setup routing scheme and wrong layer cost for the design, to set trace width & to select via padstack for Pwr/ signal connections, set fanout routing parameters, setting optimize costs parameters such as Trace right direction, Trace wrong direction and Vias.
Toggle ON/OFF routing of Pwr and/or signal connections
.Change to required settings and click on
ACCEPT
.By default,Routing Parameter Settings window open with Layers tab.
Direction of routing in each layer may be toggled between vertical and horizontal by double-clicking in the
‘Direction’
column of the corresponding layer
The power and signal lines may be set to
on or off
by enabling/ disabling the checkboxes in the respective columns of the corresponding layers.
Setting a signal or power line
ON
indicates that routing of power or signal lines in that layer in the specified direction has been enabled. Click
ACCEPT
to save changes and exit the window.
Select a value for clearance from the
Set Clearance Value
combo box. Else, a desired value may be entered. Click
Accept
to save the value . Click Default to load the default value for clearance. Clearance value is only for Trace to Trace clearance.
The dialog box presented above allows setting up parameters which reduces the overall cost.
The routing scheme may be set by enabling the check boxes provided such that a trace is allowed to be routed in a single axis only or in both axes, vias are allowed or restricted, routing restricted to S.M.D components only or extended to all components etc.
Also the wrong layer cost may be set to the required value on a percentage scale using the scroll bar.
This window allows setting up trace width and via.Select the trace width for power and signal lines from the combo box provided .
The dialog box presented above allows setting fanout parameters.
